Dalegate Christmas Market at Burnham Deepdale
I've never been to a Christmas market before, don't ask how, so when I heard about Dalegate Christmas market on Twitter I decided this year would be THE year. Where would I be without Twitter these days?
It couldn't have been a better weekend for it; Saturday was cold and crisp
but dry and the early morning frost had already put me in a slightly festive
frame of mind.
We made it to Burnham Deepdale around 1:30 I guess and found it in full
swing. Fortunately the parking was well managed so it didn't take long to get
in. It was definitely a day for big coats, hats, gloves and scarves so after
wrapping up suitably we hit the first of the stalls.
The lure of a hot drink was irresistible so we sought out some rather
quickly; Chris had a hot chocolate and I had a mint hot chocolate with extra
cream... it was so good. Suitably warmed up we continued on round the stands.
There was such a great mix of different things for sale, an awful lot of
beautiful local produce which was so inspiring to see. From cupcakes, cheeses,
beer and spirits to handcrafted pottery, woodwork, metalwork, clothes and
accessories, jewellery, photography and artwork to dog coats, home furnishings
and everything in between. It made for excellent browsing as well as a good
selection of food and drink pitches too (we had a hog roast) and I may also of
had a cup of warm spiced fruit punch too.
So what did we buy? Well, much as I'd love to tell you some of them are
presents and I wouldn't want to ruin any surprises.
I'm returning next year for more of the same.
