The Hare & The Hen, our lovely gallery at Dalegate Market, will be hosting an exhibition of Alfie Carpenter paintings.
The Hare & The Hen is a place to look for art and crafts throughout the year, not forgetting Philippa Lee’s beautiful pottery.
However, there will be a special exhibition of Alfie Carpenter paintings over Easter.
In terms of artistic style, Alfie dabbles in many different procedures, often combining several methods in one piece to concoct a rich playground of printing, marbling, collage and other alternative approaches. These processes creep into his landscapes and portraits and help bring out a consistency across Alfie’s artwork, one of exuberance, passion and evocative expression.
Alfie endeavours to articulate shapes and lines in a way that straddles abstraction and realism, rendering his work with a ’squint-and-it’s-fabulous’ kind of intricacy through to vast, ’pupil-dilating’ boldness.
